USA Hockey does not encourage playing up a division; however, playing up at EYHA will be allowed in limited circumstances. Please consider the social aspects of this request before making this decision. There may be a significant age discrepancy between your player and his/her teammates.
A parent or coach may request in writing to EYHA Board by August 31st. The parent or coach will receive a written notice or email indicating date and time the player will be evaluated to review the request.
The player will be evaluated by the ACE Coordinators of the age levels affected by the move. Player skill and playing ability will be evaluated. Physical stature will be a consideration factor. The player must be placed in the top 10% overall in skills, ability, and versatility for the younger age level team before he/she can be considered for advancement.. Goalies will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Only unusual exceptions will be granted from the Squirt Division to the Peewee Division because of the body checking aspects associated with the Peewee Division.
A recommendation from the ACE Coordinator will be submitted to the Board of Directors. The Board will review and their decision is final. If granted, the player is ineligible for any benefits from the previous division. For example, he/she forfeits the right to try out at the lower division select team or play in lower division post-season tournaments.
